Thank you! It's been a long process and I'm still learning and evolving. Makeup is so key to cosplay. I have a list of some of the cosmetics I use on my website. [link]
Mainly I make sure to keep up with my skin before a con. I use Say Yes to Carrots face wash and apricot scrub, and a heavy duty face and eye cream every night. I use Loreal's pink "magic" primer, I forget the name of it! Then I apply my foundation with a sponge, apply some concealer where I need it, and let it dry. Then I add blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, false lashes, and use Maybelline's Fit Me powder all over in the lightest shade. I also define my features/jaw etc. with a shading powder, Ben Nye makes a good one. Hope this helps!
afaik: the most common eye and hair color combination across the human species is brown (very dark, to a light hazel, to the rare "golden" or tan) and brown (from "dirty blond" to "black") - something like 4/5 of the species displays this phenotype A significant portion of the remainder have some variant of brown eyes irrespective of hair color. the next most common is blue-and-blond. the rarest hair color is red, one of the rarest of eye colors is a true green.
rarity is striking. that might account for it.
(albinos are even rarer, but cross the line into Uncanny Valley territory)
